RanD Reviews: The Flying Beets - That Stupid Way You Breathe
Flying high in the charts, the Beets are well on their way to US stardom!
The next band to feature in our #SweetestSelections reviews really needs little introduction.
Superstars in the indie music community, The Flying Beets are one of our absolute favourite discoveries in 2024.
Before we dig into the review, let me say a few words first about the immensely talented David Cross, the group“s bass player, who we have gotten to know this year.
David is one of the kindest, most decent, hard-working and positive people we have had the good fortune to meet in our lives.
A beacon of support, encouragement and friendship, David has helped us in countless ways since we have begun pursuing our RanD and Db Productions projects.
Beyond that, he works tirelessly to support countless bands in this community and he deserves our full support. A truly decent man, and kick-ass bass player, we are proud to call him a friend.
So, to the review..
Oh, one more thing - I“ve (R) never written about music until this past week or so, and it“s something of a challenge given I“m not really a musician!
However, I hope I am doing justice to the brilliance of all of your work, even if I can't quite describe it in the same way as all the cool music writers out there!
Ok, now the review!
Texas powerhouses The Flying Beets are back with a vengeance!
Five months since the release of their three-tracked EP, Let's Begin, the Beets have returned with an absolutely sensational release that has been swiftly added to our Sweetest Selections.
Leading the charge is the charismatic Nathan Waller, wielding his powerful vocals as the band's frontman. The rhythm section is a force to be reckoned featuring indie community legend David Cross on bass, and Kenn Scott on drums.
Their latest track, "That Stupid Way You Breathe," (available on Friday) is a contemporary rock masterpiece in the making that further cements their status as illuminating stars in the indie music scene.
Since their formation less than two years ago, the Beets have developed a unique, authentic and introspective sound, perfectly encapsulated in their brand new release "That Stupid Way You Breathe" (available on your favourite streaming services!!!).
Instantly catchy, TSWYB (That Stupid Way You Breathe) explodes with scorching guitar riffs, rapidly reeling you in with a killer hook. Hitting repeat is practically a reflex with this instantly absorbing powerhouse.
Meticulously crafted, TSWYB blends modern sounds with timeless rock sensibilities with Nathan Waller's vocals, the raw, emotional heart of this sublime musical delicacy. Believe me when I tell you that D is practically in love with his truly spellbinding vocal performance.
The Flying Beets' tight musicianship is on full display here - Vocals and instrumentation seamlessly intertwine in a performance that demonstrates a maturity and cohesion that belies their short time together.
They sound like seasoned veterans, not a band just two years into their journey - We're hooked, and hope this is only the beginning for this tremendously, terrifically talented texas trio!
Thank you to the Flying Beets for the spectacular gifts you continue to offer the world!
